That’s how one should do a Jingle – Dettol Dettol Ho!!!

Music in any ad plays a critical role to connect with consumers. The melody creates a lingering effect in consumer’s mind which last for a much longer period. Some legendary examples are –
  • Swad bhare shakti bhare , barson se — Parle G
  • Hema, Rekha, Jaya aur Susham – Nirma 

Who can forget the launching of AirTel ad, which was composed by A R Rahman. Many consumers put that tone as the ringtones of their cellphones. I have even seen cars having that tune for their reverse gear. The latest being re-branding done by Honda – “Dekho dekho ye zamana, panchi uda jaye”. Interestingly, the Honda song is my current ringtone 🙂

Dettol has now done the same. They are under attack by Lifebuoy and even Cinthol on ‘germ protection’ theme. Their two ads on the same music/jingle but different occations/themes are loved by kids. I have seen many kids singing this while playing. Dettol has turned the washing hand activity as a playful and melodious event. Kids now love to wash hands on their own and singing “dettol dettol ho!”.
